Giant XtC 29 1
I took Epic Biking's new demo Giant XtC 29 1 out for a test ride. After going over a couple of drops I started getting a little over confident and had a couple of drops that ended with me doing an upside down unicycle stunt. Of course moving my weight back fixed that problem.

Commuting
I have been riding my bike to the vanpool and then riding at noon with the people at work. This makes for almost 50 mile days. It rained on Tuesday, and Thurs and Fri I didn't ride into the vanpool and went mountain biking at noon. So this gave me a total of 116 miles for the week. I need to commit to blogging each ride. However I have entered them in activebody.org.
I ordered the ultimate bike computer, the Edge 305, and it should be here on Monday. Now the question is do I set up the speed cadence sensor on the mountain bike where it may be needed for the canyons where the gps signal is blocked, or do I put it on the road bike where I am more interested in cadence and where the unit is less likely to get damaged.

I hate winter

It has been over a week since I have ridden either bike, and even longer than that since I rode on the road. It was so cold today that I didn't want to go any faster than about 16mph. Not because of the work involved but the wind chill was just too much at higher speeds. The worst part was when I finished and got in the shower. I knew my toes were cold, but the pain of warming them up let me know how cold they had gotten. It sure will be nice if it ever start to warm up again.
The Duchess: ... I can't tell you just now what the moral of that is, but I shall remember it in a bit.
Alice: Perhaps it hasn't one.
The Duchess: Tut, tut, child! Everything's got a moral, if only you can find it.

Parting of the ways

I have been posting my road bike rides on my mountain bike blog. Today I decided to create a new road biking blog and leave the mountain bike blog to the real biking.
I am hoping to ride the Lotoja Classic next year. Using the two blogs will give me a way to track my training. I think mountain biking improves the road biking, but I'm not sure road biking does much for the mountain biking.
Today's ride was out to Fairfield and back. My bike computer has been sitting in my car and I guess it got too cold and was completely reset. So I need to recalibrate the wheel size. But given that the Odometer is reset it makes for a good time to start this blog. The ride today was cold, but it is at least warmer than it has been. The temp ranged from -3 to 3 C. You know it is too cold to be riding when your camel back freezes.
